University Student and Early Career Programs
As a young adult or university student, your “tomorrow” involves a career, a family, and a role as a global citizen. What kind of education, experiences and even relationships can help you get where you want to be? Ascend International’s leadership development program is designed for you.
A passage is a path or a way. Passages is a three week cross-cultural leadership development program that will provide you a path to your desired tomorrow. It’s about:
- People. You will join a community of leaders, stay in a host family’s homes and develop relationships with significant influencers. You will meet company leaders who are good role models, both in their public and private lives. You will meet and live with exemplary husbands/wives and parents who will inspire you to be ready for your tomorrow in the home and in your community.
- Places. Journey into companies, universities and sites that are shaping the future of our globe. During your Passages’ experience, you will spend approximately 100 hours with companies and company leaders who will inspire and equip you.
- Plans. Typically, your Passages experience includes assessments and personal coaching in EI (Emotional Intelligence).

Schedule: SCHEDULE
The following is information for past programs:
- Multiple-company experience: Travel with 15-25 other students to a number of Fortune 500 companies and others to learn leadership lessons. This leadership experience also involves Emotional Intelligence coaching, visits with top university graduate program officials, resume/interview workshops and a host of other cross-cultural, leadership development experiences. Passages provides a loving and caring host family experience. In addition, we offer opportunities to work alongside American peers in a collegiate setting. This program is three weeks in length and begins in Raleigh, North Carolina. Program locations also include Charlotte, North Carolina, New York City and Washington DC.
- NEW. International Organizations. President Xi has exhorted Chinese students to travel abroad and gain experiences in the multitude of international organizations that exist in our world today. This China initiative is meant to broaden the horizon of students and, potentially, lead to more young Chinese eventually working IN these organizations. During Summer 2020 Passages, participants will go to, learn about, network within and conduct team research and conduct oral presentations on various international organizations including the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, Rise Against Hunger and FHI 360, to name a few. Passages seeks to open the world of international organizations to the participants.
